Using the Six Building Blocks for Effective Systems and Teams to Maximize Meeting Structures

Using the Building Blocks to increase the power of meeting structures can be done at the district or school level, and within teams themselves.

At the district or school level, we recommend conducting a meeting inventory.  This ensures there are no standing meetings or committees that are no longer useful, and allows prioritizing time for the meetings most important to current goals and initiatives.  The inventory provides information about who serves on teams and provides an opportunity to ensure diverse perspectives and leadership opportunities are accessible to a wide range of people.

Within teams, the Six Building Blocks for Effective Systems and Teams can inform individual and collective reflection on how the team functions.  Determining what exists organically in teams, and then intentionally making a plan to build more effective practices, can maximize this powerful, Innovative and Responsive Strategy.
